New arrival

On Thursday, June 7, my wife gave birth to the newest addition to our family. Our newborn son made his way onto the scene at a healthy 7 pounds 4 ounces and 21 inches long. It was quite a day for our family. My 11-year-old son is especially happy to have a little brother despite the age difference. After coming home from vacation, my older son met and held his little brother for the first time. It was very cool to see him embrace the little guy. He made the observation that his birthday as well as his brother's and his stepmother's birthdays are all on the 7th (differrent months). My wife said I should just get everyone a gift on the 7th of every month to avoid forgetting birthdays. Sounds like a good plan as my friend Ellen wil attest to the fact that I seem to be forgetful of birthdays.

Anyway, I couldn't be happier - even if I only get sleep in two to three hours bursts. I'll be taking more pics soon.

Hi Chad - this is Bev (Becky's sister). First off, congrats on Luke - he's beautiful.

I was just showing your pics to one of the guys in my office (who wants to be a photographer as well). I showed him the pic of your nephew's b-day where you are taking the pic showing the bottom of his shoes up. Nick would like to know how you did that. Can you divulge the secret?

P.S. He thinks you're photos are pretty awesome and that you have some great lenses. I knew you had great pics - that's why I had to show him your website.

Hey Bev,

Thanks for the kind comments.

The secret is one of the utmost importance, but since you're my son's aunt, I'll spill the beans. I built a box with a plexiglass top. I then laid under the box and had each one of the kids get on top while I shot the photos. It was actually a pretty involved set with lights and some tricky manuevering, but he pics turned out great.

Thank you for showing my work to your friend. Just let him know that while I do have some nice lenses and all, the equipment isn't the only reason I get good pictures. It helps, but I am constantly considering every detail such as background, angle, timing, etc.

Thanks again.

Respectfully,
Chad
